St. Martin's Food Pantry

The St. Martin's Food Pantry distributes non-perishable food items to needy families every Monday throughout the year. The Pantry's Monday food distribution starts with the giving out of numbers for places in line, beginning when the Pantry volunteers arrive about 5:45 am Monday morning. Distribution of food begins at 10:00 am and closes at 11:30 am.

All of the following are needed for our regular food distribution–Canned soup, pasta sauce, pasta, conned vegetables, canned tuna, canned beans, boxed macaroni and cheese, Pastaroni/Ricaroni/Tuna Helper and similar products, dried rice, dried beans, canned fruit, dried soup/ramen, unsweetened breakfast cereal, peanut butter and jelly, powdered milk, potatoes, apples, oranges, personal hygiene products nd paper products, number 1 and 2 baby food, and baby formula (please, no larger than 1 lb. packages) and Pampers. Also, paper and plastic bags. Shopping lists are at the entrances of the church to remind everyone of the needs of the Pantry.

Bring your donations on the following days:

  • Mondays from 6:00 am until at least noon (please come before 9:45 am or after 11:30 am to avoid the distribution pick-up).
  •  Fridays from about 9:40 am until about noon.
  • Sundays from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Also during any Sunday Mass.
  • All other times, please call the Parish Office first to arrange a drop-off time (301-990-3203).

Please be careful not to leave any food items that must be kept refrigerated with the regular pantry donations. We will be forced to discard such items in any case where we are uncertain how long they have been withoug refrigeration.

The food pantry does not accept the following items: Non-perisable food past its expiration date, home canned items, badly dented cans of food, opened items, alcoholic beverages, pet food, or candy.

The Lord's Table Soup Kitchen

The Lord's Table serves hot nutritious meals daily Monday through Saturday, September to June at 3:30 pm in the Church Hall. Between 60 and 100+ hungry, homeless and needy people are fed each day. The Lord's Table is a completely volunteer organizaion and operates solely on donations. Adult volunteers are always needed. If you are over 21 and can make a commitment once a month please phone Mary Canapary at 301-869-7609.

Other Social Concerns Ministries

The Annual St. Martin's Coat Distribution takes place around the feast day of St. Martin of Tours in November each year. Donations are accepted beginning in October. St. Martin's does not accept any donation of clothing except during this annual drive. If you have clothing to donate, please contact the Upcounty Interfaith Clothing Center at 301-977-1267.

Outreach Masses are held each Saturday at 9:00 am during Lent and Advent. These Masses enable our parishioners to learn about different groups who reach out to those in need.
